Assessment of Bioactivity against Parasites, Cancer and Agricultural Pests

This Associate Program consists of two main components:

A. Screening of natural products for anti-Trypanosoma cruzi and anti-Plasmodium falciparum activity. Dr. Carmenza Spadafora (INDICASAT).
B. Screening of natural products for anti-Leishmania activity and in Panama-based 3-cell cancer screens. Dr. Carmenza Spadafora (INDICASAT).

Aims:

Testing of biological materials for activity against the parasites that cause the tropical diseases: leishmaniasis, malaria, Chagas' disease and Cancer.

Testing of biological materials for activity against 3 cancer cell lines .
-
Use of these bioassays to guide the purification of active extracts.
