Located in the western region of the country in the province of Chiriquí, Volcan Baru National Park encompasses part of the central mountain range and is limited by La Amistad International Park and Palo Seco protective forest. The park has a surface of 14000 hectares, with an altitude range of 1800 to 3475 meters, which is the highest point of the country and corresponds to the Baru volcano.

Volcan Baru National Park can be accessed from two areas: first, from the region of Boquete on the eastern side of the park, along a rocky 14 km road that arrives at the top and secondly, from the area of Cerro Punta, on the western side of the park from the Respingo site, where the National Authority of the Enviroment (ANAM) has a refuge and a visitor's center.

In this park we can see a gradient of vegetation, and several life zones can be found in spite of its small area. It is the only place in the country that encloses very moist montane forests and low moist montane forest in the same territory.

Sunset at 2500 meters above sea level.
